bridges-3dThirty-four bridges crossed the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio Rivers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania not more than one mile from the point-this is their story, a story of Pittsburgh … its bridges … its history … and it’s people … from 1753 to the present. This is a story of Pittsburgh told through … narration … maps … historical photographs, and first person accounts. Untimatley, this is a story of … the rise of a great city … the history of its transportation and technology, … seen through the eye of its bridges. No reader of this book will ever cross the waters at the “point” without a sense of awe at the beauty, technology, daring and brilliance that made Pittsburgh what it is today.
